"Preparing for the Fairy Ball," by Ida Rentoul OuthwaiteTHEME:
What would fairy furniture look like, should a fairy sit on something other than a toadstool, come inside a house, sleep in a bed rather than under a flower petal? Think organic, twisting forms, leaf and twig-shaped pieces, flowery, natural, not too formal, not very ornate. Lighter rather than heavier. Carvings, but not heavy ones. Simple forms, but with a bit of whimsy and playfulness. Lots, and lots of color. Materials should be natural as often as possible (stone, wood, cotton, marble, metal) but never, include iron.
